Mahbub ul Haq Research Awards for Non Traditional Security Issues in South Asia sponsored by the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo, Sri Lanka,
were awarded to 6 outstanding young South Asians for collaborative research in 2008.
The research is conducted by young South Asian scholars/professionals from two different countries on issues that have relevance to contemporary South Asia.

Research Topic: An Analysis of Women's Involvement in Terrorism through a Study of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Maoist Rebels in Nepal
Mr. Saeed Ahmed Rid (Pakistan) & Ms. Sasmita Tripathy (India)
Research Topic:Democracy as a Conflict Resolution Model for Terrorism: A Case Study of India and Pakistan
Mr. Surendra Kumar (India) & Mr. Mostafa Naser (Bangladesh)
Research Topic: Understanding Suicide Terrorism in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
The scholars are expected to produce research monographs on the selected themes and submit them to RCSS.
If required, the research papers will be reviewed by independent reviewer(s), after which it may be published under the RCSS policy studies series.
