The RCSS Policy Studies 64, will be released in May 2021. This is the monograph of Kodikara Fellowship Awardee 2020 Mr. Saurabh Thakur. He is an Associate Fellow at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), New Delhi, India who has submitted his PhD thesis on the principles of equity in the international climate change negotiations.
The main argument presented in this monograph is that Security in the Anthropocene epoch will have to shed its conservative assumptions about ‘Nature’ as a stable backdrop to geopolitics and the states in the Global South, particularly a vulnerable region like South Asia, much like their earlier efforts at the framing of environmental problems through the lens of equity, distributive justice, and post-colonial as well as regional alliances such as G-77, SAARC, BIMSTEC, will have to actively engage in the climate security debates and explore new methods of climate change governance and cooperation at the regional scale.
